I’m watching an old episode of Time Team and it’s very apt as I’m going up Leckhampton Hill tomorrow to do some geo-physics. I’m really looking forward to it too. There is an Iron Age Hill Fort up there and Maisie and myself could find something new! You never know, we could be ground breaking
The bit that Maisie doesn’t like is that we’re walking there and it’s almost 6 miles away. We’re going to start out early though and take it slowly, I want to take a load of photos on the way as well as when we get there. So, watch this space! Will I find anything??
Really looking forward to tomorrow

Films and IMDB
August 26, 2008 at 4:14 pm (fillums, interest, people)
Sometimes films make me want to look at IMDB to see what others think of it. The Squid And The Whale was one of these. I hated this film, it was hugely pretentious and certain parts (you’ll know which parts if you’ve seen it) made me feel almost like a paedophile, which is never a good thing. Everyone who reviewed it on IMDB seemed to be just as pretentious as the film and the whole thing really irked me.
One thing I really don’t get about IMDB reviewers however, is that they say films aren’t true to life. Isn’t that one of the points about films?? That they are a bit of escapism from real life? Last night I watched Lars And The Real Girl which I loved. Just a story of a few months in the life of the people in a small town somewhere in America (or possibly Canada). Obviously this isn’t a normal few months otherwise it would probably make a slightly boring film. This morning I went onto IMDB to see what others thought about it and they said it was silly and not true to life. Of course it wasn’t true to life you idiots!!! The human race probably isn’t that nice!!! There is a tiny little part of me that likes to think it could, or possibly has happened. I’m sure it has, not unnecessarily with exactly the same subject matter (doll), but I’m sure there are towns and villages everywhere that have helped a person through some horrible time in their life like they did in this film.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about then I suggest you watch this film, it was great.
Stressed
August 17, 2008 at 11:40 pm (life, work)
It’s 0033 hours and I should be in bed. Thing is, I can’t sleep because of work. Well, not necessarily work but the course I am doing at work. I am extremely far behind on my studies. I am meant to get time at work to do it, but there is no time. I would try to do it at home but it is summer hols and my girl needs to see me at some point. I have three workbooks and one and a half units to finish by October! I think I need to take the whole lot into work and sort things out. If I can get it done by October then I shall be half way though the whole course and I will get a pay rise sooner rather than later. My boss wanted me to sell the course to another girl in another shop and I could only say that it is a great course as long as you have no kids or social life!
I need organising!!
Flesh and gentle
June 9, 2008 at 12:19 pm (interest, life, moaning, people, summer, wow)
Summer has arrived and this can only mean one thing! Too much bare flesh! As I walked round town (with a full length skirt and long line vest on I hasten to add) I saw many blindingly white, scrawny men with no tops on and far too many size 18+ girls with teeny weeny skirts and crop tops on. Surely there should be a law against such things. I’m wondering if they think that by wearing ginormous jewellery we will not see their second arse and spare tyre lolloping over their far too tight skirts/shorts.
The sight of such atrocities cannot dampen my spirits though as i have found wonderous new beauty products from Hand Made Naturals. I have been suffering from quite bad skin for some time now (one of the many reasons I try not to show too much of it) and it seems that there is an ingredient in a lot of beauty products that is BAD. This ingredient is Sodium Laurel Sulphate and it is in everything, even things that claim to be gentle on the skin. So I did a search for SLS free stuff and found the afore mentioned site. I have been using the facial wash, toner and moisturiser for about 3 weeks and the skin on my face is so lovely now, no redness or soreness. But today I tried their shampoo and conditioner. I was actually quite nervous about this, because I really wanted it to work. Thing is that I have waist length hair that knots VERY easily so normally I can go through 3 times as much conditioner than shampoo. I washed my hair, not too many bubbles but apparently that’s to be expected from natural shampoo. Then I nervously put on the conditioner which is more of a lotion than a cream. I put it on little by little as suggested and I have to say that I didn’t think much of it to begin with. Then I washed it out (after 5 mins) and my fingers just ran straight through my hair!!! This has never happened before so I was seriously happy, and I didn’t use that much of it. Funny thing is that my face and hair have never actually felt so clean. None of the products smell ‘pretty’ but they do smell nice and my skin loves me for using them right now. I’m going to try the shower gel next!

New Model Army. I remember listening to them for the first time when I was 15. Listening to Vengeance in the sixth form common room and being an ‘angry young girl’. I am now 2 weeks away from being 36 and still they excite me as they did 21 years ago. I’ve just been to see them in Stroud’s Sub Rooms and I’m still buzzing. The have a cult following who are so passionate about their music they are in an almost trance like state throughout the gig. The majority of people have never heard of them, which is an utter, utter shame. Justin Sullivan’s lyrics and voice are an honour to hear, yet he is such a humble man. I am covered in sweat, my voice has gone and I can’t move my neck. It was a good night.
Four o’clock in the morning
still we cannot sleep.
Turning over, turning round
twisted in our sweat.
They say there is no rest
for the wicked ones.
Dear God what have we done

Well, I’ve just been to see the new Indiana Jones film and I loved it. Say no more.
Freaky moment at work!!!

We have a ‘regular’* at work who is so ‘ill’ that he can’t come into the shop, although he manages to drive his car there every day. Well I was in the dispensary when I heard him honk his horn so I went out to give him his medication. When I went outside I was confronted by this man sucking on a mini, portable oxygen mask! I immediately thought of Dennis Hopper as Frank Booth in Blue Velvet and it completely freaked me out!

I’m in charge!
May 6, 2008 at 6:16 pm (work)
It’s funny. I started my job almost exactly 3 years ago. I started there working just Friday and Saturday and covering holidays. Then I got taken on to work at the ‘other’ shop on Mondays. Last year the ‘full timer’ went on long term sick and then finally handed in her notice so I had to work 7 days a week. In the mean time I did two work related courses that gave me quite good pay rises. We then found a really great lady who worked the first half of the week and I went back to working the second half. In January she very, very sadly died so I was back to doing 7 days a week. In Feb I started on my NVQ3 and it now seems that everyone (including the manager) thinks that I am in charge! They all tell me when they’ve done something out of the ordinary and they ask me if it’s ok for certain things to be done! Even the owner asks me if things should be done, bought or removed for the sake of the shops profits. It’s nice to know that I am respected by my colleagues, but I find it a bit weird when people say, ‘I’ve done this Annie, is that ok?’
search and demise
April 10, 2008 at 8:24 pm (interest, internet, life)
Well, I’ve just been playing with this site and I have found that you can see how people have got to your page. Apparently the general public can get to may page by entering these words into their search engine, ‘hot girls showing it all.’ Of course I had to try it and on about page 21 of the search there I was! Along with ‘hot girls pissing’, ‘hot ‘n’ horny’ and other such lovely ladies! How proud I am to be moving in such circles.
In other news, two of my longest serving possessions have passed away
My Clairol 1200 watt hairdryer has died after 20 years of service! My daddy bought it for me for my 16th birthday. I now have a pink, £5 jobby from the shop over the road. It’s nowhere near as good if only because it has quite a short flex. Secondly (and most upsettingly) my DM’s have bitten the dust. The back seam has split, the loop to help me pull them on has come off and there is almost no tread on them. These lasted me for 17 years and you can’t buy ones like mine any more
They are (were) purple with squared off toes! I have handed the laces down to Maisie and I am finding it hard to part with them. Would it be wrong to use them as some kind of ornament? People have urns on their fireplaces, so I can’t see why I can’t have my much loved DM’s on display…
Loser!!!
