I’m watching an old episode of Time Team and it’s very apt as I’m going up Leckhampton Hill tomorrow to do some geo-physics. I’m really looking forward to it too. There is an Iron Age Hill Fort up there and Maisie and myself could find something new! You never know, we could be ground breaking
The bit that Maisie doesn’t like is that we’re walking there and it’s almost 6 miles away. We’re going to start out early though and take it slowly, I want to take a load of photos on the way as well as when we get there. So, watch this space! Will I find anything??
Really looking forward to tomorrow

Well I have had my Sanya 125 motorcycle for a few months now and I thought it was about time I told you all about it. It is a Chinese import that my brother-in-law had to put the front end on and I had to register myself. I bought it from ebay for £499, delivery was £85 and I bought a helmet, top box and a lock for £60 from the same shop. Registration cost £60, tax £15, number plate £20, insurance £175 and a full tank of petrol £12!!
So for £926 I had a brand new motorbike on the road. I had to ride it from the Forest of Dean to my house, that was a good run for the bike and for me seeing as I hadn’t ridden one for 10 years. I pitied the people behind me as I could only go 30mph because the bike needs to be run in for 1,000 miles. It got me home though with no problems. Since then I have been riding it round town and to and from work. It needs a lot of choke on these chilly mornings and I keep on forgetting it won’t start while the side stand is down (this seems to be a new thing on bikes that happened in the ten years I haven’t ridden). Once it has warmed up though it rides very well. I am just about getting used to the indicator beep, when I first rode it it seemed really loud as indicators don’t normally beep on bikes. I can do 200 miles on one tank of petrol which as I said cost £12 and it has a petrol gauge which is something very unusual on a motorbike. Also it has a gear indicator so you always know which gear you’re in. The only thing I don’t like is that the gears can be changed either with the toes or the heels, the heel lever just gets in the way. I do like the fact that it has an electric start and a kick start, it’s always good to have the kick start as back up.
It’s getting a bit happier doing 40mph now and when it is fully ridden in it will do a monstrous 56mph!! But seeing as I just want it to get me from Glos to Cheltie and vice versa 56mph will do fine. Moomin rides on the back with me which is one reason I wanted the top box (to stop her falling off the back, motherly neuroticism there I think). I also bought a belt with handles on for her to hold onto me, this means I can’t actually feel her on the back so she pokes me every now and again to put my mind at rest. All in all we both like this bike very much. Nothing has rusted on it yet, it’s big enough for people to see and the light is bright enough too. If you want a bike that will get you from A-B and don’t need to be a speed demon then I highly recommend this bike. The closest Japanese bike would be the Honda CG125 which is about £2,000 on the road. It may go a little faster, but it is only a little faster.
What goes up, must come down… and then go back up again.
August 7, 2007 at 7:17 am (children, friends, fun, jobs, karma, life, money, weird, wow)
I have another one of those weird weeks, they seem to be happening a lot recently, I’m not sure I can cope with them!
I woke up on Saturday, looking forward to the pirate party that I was going to that evening. I did my normal coffee and internet thing that I do in the morning. Facebook, Myspace, WordPress, bank, lottery. Everything was normal until I got to the lottery website. The balance said £0.00 but I had an alert. I clicked on it expecting it to tell me my tickets had run out, but no. It told me I had won £805!!!! I kind of believe in Karma and to me this was the good following the bad (the burglary) but then some bad had to happen, which it did that night.
The pirate party was fantastic, everyone dressed up wonderfully and we actually managed to go down the canal on the boat. The bands were on top form and the drink flowed, this was my problem. I got so drunk that I can’t remember going home, and I was in charge of Maisie. Never in my whole life have I felt sooooo disgusted with myself. Maisie said it was horrible to see and I remember when I was a kid seeing my mum drunk and it was indeed hideous. Maisie has forgiven me but it’s going to take a very long time for me to forgive myself. She gives me huge hugs and kisses and tells me it’s ok, but it’s not really, is it?
This was the bad to counteract the previous good, so therefore there must be some good to counteract this bad. This came yesterday in the form of my work mate handing in her notice which means I now have a full time job in a place I really like working in. I am really happy at the moment, but there is still a little man in my head with a big black cloud telling me never to drink again while I’m in charge of Maisie… and I won’t.
Tired…
July 30, 2007 at 6:37 pm (drudgery, emergencies, family, fillums, fun, interest, life, t.v., water, work)
Tired of not having water, but thankfully it should be back on tomorrow for flushing and bathing use. Billy just told me that he is having a bath in a min, but I have to wait. When tomorrow comes and I hear that sound of cisterns filling up I shall be in the bath like a shot and stay in it for some time… although not too long as the water will still be a bit dodgy.
In other news I got the preparatory material for my OU course. I am really looking forward to this as my sister is doing it too. This means competition which in turn means that we will be doing good work (hopefully). At work my boss is on holiday and I feel like I’m running the place, which I suppose is good training for when I do actually run the place. Having just one day off a week is very draining though, I wanted a lie in yesterday but also didn’t want to waste the day. What is a young girl to do? Well, I stayed in bed till 9.30, that’s what I did!
I have to go shopping on Wednesday as I have a pirate party to go to on Saturday. It’s meant to be on a boat but there still may be a chance that the water is too high so it may be moved to a pub nearby. I have decided to use the dresses I made for re-enactment as the costume as they are wenchy/pirate type dresses. I need to add stripy tights, bandanna, big earrings, eye patch and cutlass to this equation.
Last night I watched Hairspray and I have to say I loved it and smiled all the way through. Gonna watch the last episode of Jekyll in a minute, I am sure there will be less smiling whilst watching that.
*Edit* I watched the last episode of Jekyll and I did actually smile. It was very good, a tad OTT at times but overall a very enjoyable series. I’m glad I watched the whole thing.
